Ah well I haven't gotten the chance to blog in a few days. I've missed talking to Dee too. I've been staying at Allen/Barb's while they're out of town feeding the horses and house/bird sitting. I love staying in their house, it's so nice and clean and out in the country. Man I wish I lived out here near them. Ah well maybe one day! The horses have been really great and they're really used to me and Mom now. I think we're spoiling them b/c we take a carrot out to give them each time we feed them. hehe. Now when we go out they are automatically expecting a treat. lol.

We made it by Lillie's the other day and got her little tree up. Just one of those little 32" fiber optic trees from Dollar General but it looks awesome! We decorated it with some little tiny balls and for ten bucks it looks damn good. Lillie was so tickled by it and it's always nice to see her get so excited. We haven't made it back to finish decorating or to put up Mr. Riley's tree yet but they know that we're going to get to it soon. In face we're supposed to go today and do some more stuff. I think Lillie is like 73 and Mr. Riley is umm.... 87ish? It's so cute watching them. Their faces light up like a little kid's would when they see all the decorations and things. And watching them open presents is so nice. It's worth every second spent out in the cold putting up lights lol!

Sounds like you're having those holiday blues Dee. *hugs* I'm so sorry. I know retail sucks big time this time of year especially. I hope Twixie grows up some soon and stops having puppy moments. I know it can be frustrating but remember that for a while it's like having a real human baby... eventually he'll stop all of that and then there will be lots of good times! I've never been without a dog at home and honestly I can't imagine ever being without one. It's one thing I guess that I got from Dad. He has always been such an animal lover, especially doggies and so am I. On that note as a matter of fact, remember that puppy I told you about me and Mom saved a long time ago? Lemme refresh your memory lol. Ok well firstly, one night a dog ran out in front of Mom and I (she was driving) and we hit it hard. Well when we pulled over it had stumbled over to a church yard (we hit it right in front of a christian school) and was lying there. We knew that we had hit her hard and that she was hurt. Well me being the animal lover that I am, I was bawling and told Mom that we could NOT just leave her there to die or get hit again. So it's like 11:30pm and NO ONE is reachabe (aka vets, animal control, etc). So we called the cops. The woman on the phone severely pissed me off b/c I told her we needed help and she refused to send a cop over stating that it 'didn't sound like an emergency to her'. I told her that we wanted a cop NOW and we weren't going to leave. So after about half an hour a cop finally showed up. He said that the dog looked hurt bad and he wantes us to leave so he could shoot it. I was like HELL NO you're not shooting that dog! We didn't even know how bad she was hurt, it could've been a simple broken leg we didn't know yet. So we bugged the cop until he finally called animal control and had a man come out. We called a local vet and thankfully her answering service called her for us and she agreed to meet us at her office. So we followed the animal control man who had picked up the dog and it wasn't good news. We told the vet to fix her if she could and we would pay for everything, but after examining her she determined that it was an older dog who had obviously been abused and abandoned (very skinny etc) and that she had a broken back and it would be best to simply put her to sleep. So we payed to have her put to sleep and put out of her pain. It was so sad and Mom and I felt horrible for days and did a good bit of crying that night. OK..... now on to the puppy!

About a week later I was driving to work and as I was riding down the road I noticed two small puppies laying in the opposite lanes (it was a 4 lane road). I was so sad because they were just lying there and it was obvious that they had been hit by a car. I glanced back as I passed and in my side mirror I saw movement! So I swung the car around and sure enough, one of the puppies was dead. It was a little black and brown puppy that looked a lot like a german shephard. But the other puppy was a beautiful light brown and looked more like a lab or something. It broke my heart when I saw him get up because he was perfectly fine. I realized then that his brother had been killed and he didn't know what to do so he had layed down beside him and layed his head across the dead puppie's body. I got out of the car and tried to coax the puppy to come to me but he was understandably scared and wouldn't come to me. Now I'm not in the best physical shape of course lol and I knew I couldn't chase a puppy and catch it so I phoned Mom and she rushed to come help me. Between the two of us we got the puppy in her car and I moved the dead puppy off the road. I had to go on to work but Mom took "Lucky" (we named him that b/c he was Lucky I found him alive) home and bathed and stayed with him. This was on a Monday morning. Lucky was the cutest thing! He had the most beautiful clear green eyes I've ever seen on a dog. Something was telling me to NOT take him to the SPCA even though we've taken many animals we've picked up there before. I don't know what was different about him but I just couldn't do it. So we put out info on the internet and eventually a man from the base saw it and asked if we could bring Lucky out to meet his family. We did and the whole family (they had a lot of kids) loved him and adopted him. As it turns out they took him to the vet and he had 8 different types of worms! I knew then that if I had taken him to the SPCA they would've put him to sleep on the spot b/c treating heartworms is very pricey. Luckily the family's vet fixed him up and he was just fine. I had long wondered what he looked like as an adult and just the other day his "Daddy" emailed me a pic of him now! He's probably going on two years old now and he is a beauty! He turned out to look exactly like a German Shephard and is a gorgeous light brown w/ brown nose and still has those green eyes. I was so happy to see that pic of him!!!! It made Mom and I feel SO good to know we did that. hehe ok now I'm done with that story just had to share our feel good moment.

Well as you can see it's 5:51am. I woke up an hour ago with a nasty case of acid reflux so that's why I'm on the computer now. lol. It has actually quieted down now that I've been sitting up so I'm going to try to go back to bed. Besides, Barb's tiny ass keyboard is making my carpel tunnel hurt like a motha!!! LOL. Well Dee, I love ya sis and I hope your Sunday and week goes better girl. *hugs again* I'll see you soon I hope!!!
