And then there were none. So, my friends... the weekend is finally here. Hoorah, yippee, woohoo.
It never ceases to amaze me how easily some people "pull the wool" over everyone's eyes. It reminds me of the Evanescence song "Everybody's Fool" which states:
perfect by nature
icons of self indulgence
just what we all need
more lies about a world that
never was and never will be
have you no shame don't you see me
you know you've got everybody fooled
look here she comes now
bow down and stare in wonder
oh how we love you
no flaws when you're pretending
but now i know she
never was and never will be
you don't know how you've betrayed me
and somehow you've got everybody fooled
without the mask where will you hide
can't find yourself lost in your lie
i know the truth now
i know who you are
and i don't love you anymore
it never was and never will be
you're not real and you can't save me
somehow now you're everybody's fool.
Anyway, what brings this up you ask? Well, like hundreds of thousands of towns we have local elections coming up. It's bad enough having to listen to all the crap going on with the presidential elections. It gets worse, however, when you happen to know some of the local candidates.
I ran across a website for a man running for the local sheriff's office here. Now, I knew him and his family pretty well. And I knew his son better than anyone suspects, I'm sure. We were good friends for a few years, and like an idiot I allowed the entire family to pull the wool over my eyes. I had been warned about them, but no... I thought they were good people. HA! I learned the hard way folks. For a bit of background, those of you who know me know that I'm pagan. Not Wiccan, just pagan. That's as far as I choose to classify myself on a religion standpoint. This family is supposedly VERY Christian. They sing as a group in the churches, they have family members who are ministers, etc. So everyone, from the outside, thinks they are this wholesome family. As a pagan, I was weary when I first met the son. But we got along great, and he even hired me to work in his religious store (as the manager no less) and we had a lot of fun. Then eventually, the shit hit the fan. He wanted me to do things and lie for him to mutual friends to cover his ass and I refused. And when he lied on me anyway to save himself, he found out that I wasn't going to go along with it and pretend that everything was still peachy-keen. There were other things that bug me. I mean sheesh, they were teaching four year olds to sing songs like "Coon Town". There's a long story to that part, but I won't go into it. It's not important to my train of thought.
It just disturbs me how someone can honestly live their lives and propose to be something that they surely are not. I don't have a problem with what christians consider "sin". But damnit, if you're going to live by the code, then own up and face up to it. And this isn't just with religion, it's with anything in life. I pray that this man doesn't win the seat, which I'm not too worried about as many many people (I have found out) also have learned the hard way what his character truly is like.
Enough of that. Just had to vent.
In other news, I ran across a NEWS story about a printing company that come up with a pretty nifty ad. Seems that they come up with a quirky ad depicting someone who had killed themself and left a suicide note. In one instance, the note was handwritten and scribbled..... the other note was neatly typed and printed out. Here's what the article said:
The display at Special Effects, a video and printing store in this northeast Ohio village, shows empty beer cans on the floor near an overturned table below dangling legs meant to look like a person who hanged himself.
On a nearby table is a short, scrawled suicide letter on a piece of notebook paper - and another note that's lengthy and professionally printed.
A sign reads, ``Contemplating suicide? Let Special Effects give your suicide note that professional look.''
Hehe. Now I don't know about you but I think that's pretty fuckin hysterical. And coming from someone who has been to the point of suicide quite a few times, I can sympathize with anyone who's been there. But hey, some of us got sick twisted senses of humor and this is just perfect for us. I say, bravo to the little company with big balls.
As far as the personal day, it went alright. Curves this morning, was good. Ended up having to go to the base, grocery store, and then to Manning to pick up my glasses (by the time we got there though it was closed already bleah). Went to Walmart to pick up some things, then to a friend's house to watch some movies and meet her hubby, who was very nice and has one kick ass movie collection. I am jealous. LOL. We watched an old flick called "Satan's School For Girls". It was interesting.... but it could have had more of the bad man in it. LOL. What can I say? I just love movies like "The Ninth Gate" and the "Prophecy" series. (The ones with Christopher Walken as the Angel Gabriel and Viggo Mortenson as the Angel "Lucifer".)
I'm looking forward to tomorrow. I have nothing to do other than wash some laundry. I can just kick back and relax (the house will be empty except for the Wease, who will be sleeping). I think I'll take the time to get some extra sleep and maybe work on my scrapbook somewhat. So I'm out of here for a few my friends. Sleep well. - posted by Loki's Concubine @ 9:17 PM
