Stressing
It's been a long day already. We have been having a situation here, unfortunately. I've been running all over all day. We have a sick dog, well we didn't know what was wrong with her but she hasn't been eating hardly anything all week. The past two days she hasn't eaten anything period and was drinking no water. So she went to the vet this morning.

I used to like our vet. He was a nice guy. A while back though I started noticing everyone at his office getting really snippy and it seemed like he didn't take the time to really check the animals anymore. I would ask people about their experiences and they told me over and over again that he was just in it for the money. I agree with them whole-heartedly and that really sucks. He charged $60 before he even knew what was going on JUST to see her. Then he picked up her tail, looked... Asked a few questions and told us she had a uterine urinary tract infection. Basically caused because she was never fixed. He tells my parents, who took her, that they had to pay upfront, the surgery had to be done tonight and that it would be $600-$800. Then he said if he had to end up doing emergency surgery it would be $1500. Ok well I know HE might have that money, because he lives in the fancy rich neighborhood and drives the big avalanche truck... But damn! We don't have that money sitting around.

So my friend has a vet that lets her make payments. And I know she's a good vet, have always heard good things. I call my friend, who calls up there for me to see if they will work with us and tells the people at the office that if we can't afford the cost to put it on her bill and we'd just pay her back. That was very awesome of her I have to say. Anyways, we go up there today and see a doctor. They're going to run tests to check her liver and kidneys and bloodwork (the other vet did NO tests of any kind) and then are going to do surgery to remove the uterus. Turns out it's the same exact surgery as having a dog spayed. Only they will have to clean the infection that they find. They put Corey on fluids because she was dehydrated. The cost of all the medicines, labwork, anesthesia, surgery and treatment is going to run $150. $200 MAX if they find something really bad when they get in and have to up the antibiotics. AND that's with overnight care. AND if we can't pay up front we can make payments.

So now I'm pissed. Pissed and a little outraged at the fact that not only was the other vet not willing to tell us what kind of surgery it was, but he's obviously price gauging. And he refuses to work with anyone! Even in the case of an emergency. I really hope that he gets a HUGE smack in the ass one of these days, because it's pretty clear that he really doesn't give a shit about the well-being of the animals. I'm so tired of people just being after the all-mighty buck. I mean yeah I always say I want to win the lottery. But damn! If I did I wouldn't sit on it and not help anyone. I wouldn't do my damnedest to make everyone else's life hell just because they didn't wipe their ass with a $20 bill. It's just sad, what the world has come to. It's really a shame that instead of progressing spiritually we keep progressing technologically. *sigh* Such is life.

Corey girl is going into surgery tonight. They think she's strong enough after the tests they've done. We went and saw her earlier because Dad wasn't there when we took her in. I wanted him to see her again, because well... She is his dog really even though we love her too. And she's an old girl at almost 13 so there's always a chance that she won't pull through the surgery at all. Send some good energy her way if you don't mind! She's old, but still acts like a puppy and has never been sick except for this. I'm hoping that will help her through. I know some people think that it's stupid how much animals are loved by their humans. Some people think it's stupid that I ask for 'good energy' to be sent her way. But I figure what the hell, it can't hurt. Here's a pic, so you have something to focus on. Thanks everyone, I'll let ya know.
